My Ideal Teacher

Teaching is a noble profession. The teacher is being respected in the society, specially by the parents and by the students. He/she acts as a guide for the student in a good manner, and not in brutal way, not pushing them too much. An ideal teacher should consider her/himself as a parent to her/his student. S/he must treat them fare, no favoritism. If there is a case that the student did bad thing, the teacher must punish the student in order the student to learn a lesson from her/his mistake. the punishment should not be harsh.
An ideal teacher have a practicality in life. S/he knows what to teach or how to deliver the lessons correctly. S/he knows the different strategies in teaching. S/he must be observable. In every meeting, she must observe the nature of her/his class. If s/he thinks that the students got bored during the discussions, s/he must know how to change the mood of the class by shifting to another strategy of teaching. if it works, then, s/he is successful in her/his discussion.
An ideal teacher must have good qualities. It is really a need for a teacher to develop good qualities because it is undeniable that the teacher is always facing a rational being everyday in her life. Patience is very important. Because everyday, the teacher face a challenged on how to handle her/his students in proper way. We all know that most of the students are just a headache for the teachers.Good qualities of a teacher can attract the students and parents to enroll at the certain school that the student wanted to learn from. Good teachers' memory will always stay in the students mind throughout her/his life.
An ideal teacher is punctual. If the teacher is punctual, then the students will try their best to do so in order to make the teacher glad that s/he has been a good model for her/his students. A good teacher knows how to follow rules and regulations in school. S/he must always wear her/his school uniform, if it is school days and she must also be neat. Neatness of the teacher may be a footsteps for the students to follow.
An ideal teacher is skillful. Skillful in the sense that s/he know what to do in front of the class. Mastery of the subject is a need to become more skillful teacher. S/he must know the other skills, even though it is not her/his field, but it is a big help for the students if their teacher is skillful. Why? It is because most of the students have many questions about how to perform the specific task that they wanted to know how.
And lastly, an ideal teacher must enjoy her/his profession in order for them to become successful through their chosen carrier.

impact of technology in education

IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Education is very important to each of us. It is the only treasure that the other can't take it away from us. It started from using the instructional materials from the environment like the real object, or the model or representation of the object.
Since our generation is improving, now we have our technology that can help us in our educational learning. Some people argue if the use of technology will increase the learning capacity of the students. Some are in favor in using technology because of the fact that it will help our the student's life easier.
Now. the question is, 'What is the impact of technology in our life, in business and most of all, in education?'
We all know that technology is very common nowadays. It is very useful to everybody. Technology is the source of income for some people. Through the use of technology, they can produce more products for the consumers to be use and consume. And most of all, technology is very useful in education. From time to time, teachers techniques in teaching is changing by the use of technology
Technology has a big impact in education. Mostly, the teachers encourage the students to use technology for them to be able to expose in the new generation's life. Through surfing the internet, people will know the latest information about their lessons in schools or for their daily life's useful information. Most of the schools now are using technology as their main source of information for teaching the students. Through these technologies, the students are encourage to study more because they can't be pressured to do the things in complicated ways. They just simply surf it in the internet and/or use the technology to make their projects easier.

Am I in favor of implementing the K+12 PROGRAM?

Yes. I am in favor of implementing the K+12 Program in our country. In this program, both the students and the teachers have benefits. Both of them have the chance to improve all of the aspects of their lives most specially towards livelihood. The teacher have the big role in molding the students through educating them by teaching them the basic skills that will engage them to livelihood when they will graduate the K+12 program.
And the students will highly develop their skills during their school days in K+12 program.

This program is implemented in our country to make us competitive to the other country. The proposed program is good but it still won't work if the needed elements to make it work isn't present.
In order to make this program successful, the government must solve the educational problems first before implementing the K+12 program. If the government could allot a bigger budget to educational needs, then we could be one-step ahead towards the success of the K-12 program.

As we can observe now, more parents and students complain why K+12 program implemented. In order for them to understand, this program must be introduced to them properly so that they have the courage to support the educational needs of their children. And the students will have the courage to go to school.

By this, the Filipino students will become more literate, skillful, and competitive to be able to find jobs more easily and contribute to the country's pride as well as the country's economy.

PIE Model

PIE MODEL
            - is a mental model that allows you to perform tasks. I developed the model because I wanted to make sure that I and others perform tasks in an organized manner

Three basic phases:
       - Planning
       - Implementation
       - Evaluation

Components of the PIE Model

PLAN
• Identifying characteristics of the students
• Specifying objectives
• Describing the learning environment
• Developing instructional activities: -Motivation activities, -Orientation activities, -Information activities, -Application activities, -Evaluation activities
• Selecting methods and media
• Acquiring instructional materials (select/modify/create)

In the P mode, be creative, think about all the options, generate some new ones, think about pitfalls, pros and cons.

IMPLEMENT
• Prepare instructional materials
• Prepare learning environment
• Prepare learners
• Proceed with the lesson

In the I mode, be aggressive in following the plan, not get distracted, make sure my plan is logical, and be result oriented.

EVALUATE
• Evaluate learning and instruction
      -Before
      -During
      -After

In the E mode.be reflective, really think about what I was doing, generate lessons for the future.

Characteristics of PIE Model Based on the Taxonomy

Selected characteristics                                       PIE model

Typical Output
Typical output may be instruction, which is often called lesson, or be supporting materials for their instruction. In most cases, teachers plan their instructions based on one or more lessons. The model also introduces ways to attain instructional materials which support their instruction (whether they are selected or created) within the framework of PIE.

Resources Committed to Development
PIE addresses resources to select or modify the materials rather than to develop a new material. It is assumed that resources committed to development are low compared to the resources of existing materials.

Team or Individual Effort
Although there is no explicit statement regarding this, it is assumed that PIE is based on individuals’ work.

ID Skill/ Experience
There may be experienced teachers and novice teachers based on their teaching experiences. The teachers may not familiar with the term of instructional design, but it is assumed that experienced teachers have competencies to design instruction in that PIE provides general guidelines rather than specific steps which allows for teachers intuition.

Emphasis on Development or Selection
It is assumed that classroom-oriented models have emphasis on rather selection than development. Although there is no explicit emphasis made on selection in PIE model, the authors recommend for the teachers to analyze the existing materials first for efficiency. However, it is not the focus whether to select existing materials or create a new one. Rather, it is stressed to identify right media for appropriate instructional methods to achieve the intended outcome.

Amount of Front-End Analysis/ Needs assessment
Less emphasis is on front-end analysis than other models. Although the planning phase involves needs analysis, it is addressed that there is no determined starting point. Teachers may initiate the planning process from where they need to start.

Technological Complexity of Delivery Media
Although the authors allot many spaces to introduce how to integrate technology into their instruction, the level of complexity of introduced ways of technological application is low.

Amount of Tryout and Revision

On-going evaluation is stressed throughout the entire process of learning and instruction. Revision can be made more than often in that teachers are plan as well as deliver the lesson.

Amount of Distribution/ Dissemination
Amount of distribution or dissemination is limited to the teacher’s classes or the teachers’ community where the teacher who originally plans the instruction belongs to.
